Additional postcard – One head missing

Since December 1st, 2010, I’ve been running  a project called Mailart 365. The idea was to make and send 365 pieces of art in the post for a year, and after starting it, I was joined by over 100 artists, who continue the daily mailart every day to that elusive 365 conclusion (and beyond)

I didn’t manage to make it to 365 in a year, but managed to finish it just over 2 years later, having got sidetracked by my own wedding to Elena and life in general, but some of the pieces didn’t get sent out during the period, so I’m catching up now. Some of the pieces you see in the shop are finished pieces from my 365 project looking for a home.

This piece, One Head Missing and it’s flipside Tekkon was meant to go to a long-time friend in mailart, Ammy from Singapore, and it’s only now getting to go in the post. Better late than never I say.

One Head Missing was inspired by a letter I received from her in which she described an incident that happened to her in The Philippines.

120 back - Cockroach

When she arrived she picked up some Prawn tempura, and after swallowing her first bite she noticed it had half a cockroach in it. Surely everyone’s worst nightmare…

Now we’re heading out to the Far East and this is exactly the sort of thing we’re dreading.

Have you had an awful incident with food, perhaps in a foreign country? What tips do you have for two travellers to avoid getting sick? Let us know in the comments below!

Thanks Lou. (What’s a tincture? How do I make one?)

Oh man I wish I packed some cinnamon today. I had a “covridog” which is a hot dog made like a covrig, which is a Romanian pretzel. Within 10 minutes I had a stomach ache, my first of the trip and had to head to the loo.

Elena was amazed. You know what my metabolism is like Lou. Anyway, I read that the human gastrointestinal system is 5m in length and it look me all of 10 minutes to get a covridog from one end to the other. I have the Usain Bolt of digestive systems!

I was fine straight after that.

Yuck, Elena saw one of these in our bathroom last night. She squealed and smacked it with a shoe, which scared me awake. First one in the house since arriving and it was bound to happen sooner or later
