Inspired by the tropical storm, Usagi that’s on it’s way to northern Vietnam, this piece is drawn by hand on A4 Bristol Board by Andy, using Faber-Castell fineliners.
It depicts a scene from Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo (Rabbit Bodyguard) series, in which a roaming anthropomorphic rabbit samurai roams feudal Japan. The scene is a standoff between a Ronin (masterless samurai) and the head of a famous sword school as Usagi stands watch.
The tension in the old masters stances is the calm before the storm, much like the feeling we have here, knowing that Usagi is on it’s way.
